RESULTS ...
2004 SEASON -
May 22nd - Lake Geneva Raceway - first points night of the season, got 3 practice sessions in before the rain hit. Every car entered recieved last place points and money.
May 15th - Rockford Speedway - Qualified near the back with the wrong gear, and slower tires than the nascar late models. Past 2 cars in the heat race before doing a spin and go out of 4. started last in the feature, worked up to 5th at one point, got kicked around a little, finished the feature in 9th.
April 17th - Lake Geneva Raceway "Limited Late Model Spring Fling" - After working on the car countless hours all week, we finished our new Millennium late Model just hours before it was time to leave for the track. We only made it there in time for one practice session of 10 laps. Then we surprised ourselves by qualifying 6th. with a 17.605. and making the "fast dash". ended up 5th in the dash. Then we started last (20th) in the feature. after spinning once, and being pushed to the back once due to a lapped car, we ended up moving our way into 7th. on the last lap the car got sideways out of 4, and we lost two positions to end up 9th. not a bad night. car came home in one piece.
2003 SEASON -
September 27 - Rockford Speedway - Last GLALS points race of the 2003 season. Started out the day by being the fastest car in all three practice sessions. Qualified in the second position. WON the fast dash by a complete straightaway. WON the heat race by a complete straight.WON the feature event ! by nearly five car lenghts over 2003 champion Keith Tolf. After starting eighth in the feature event, and quickly moving to second through traffic, we closed up on the 07, finally pulling along side after a miscalculation on Tolf's part. thats all we needed as we led the final seven of thirty laps to take home our second feature win of the year.
September 20 - Kalamazoo Speedway - Qualifed an unusual 6th, our worst of the season. Started 6th in the heat race, finished 2nd after some close calls. Started fourth in the feature, car just didn't seem to come in until around lap 12 of 20, finished the feature right where we started, 4th. Now less than 60 points out of 2nd in the GLALS Standings.
September 6 - Illiana Motor Speedway - qualifed about 5 tenths off of fast time. finished 3rd in the heat race, due to car count the millennium feature had to run at the tail end of the mid am feature. WRECK first lap, took out several cars, we were involved in the rear, fixed the car. worked up to about 12th from that point on, after starting around 20th. not bad. gained some more experience.HIGHEST FINISHING MILLENNIUM LATE MODEL!
September 5 - Lake Geneva Raceway - Late model event, qualified bad, finished the heat race bad, started last in the feature, passed a car, didn't get lapped
August 30 - Illiana Motor Speedway - took the millennium late model out for the first time. Finished the car about an hour before we had to leave. NO PRACTICE on the car at all, and I'd NEVER driven a late model before. We experienced some problems in tech, took awhile to fix, THANK YOU BAY DARNELL!, couldn't have gotten the car done without you. After having only 4 laps of practice (in second gear riding around the bottom) we qualified less than a second off of fast time! having only 4 laps in a late model at half speed! stayed with the pack in the heat race, spun. Started the feature with a goal of not getting lapped or spinning. did just that, good first nite. had a couple problems with the car, but overall we were very happy with our performance and look forward to the next race.
August 23 - New Paris Speedway - Qualified 3rd, panhard bar heim broke while qualifying, first lap was only less than two tenths off of fast time. Pulled off not one but two three wide passes in the heat race, just to get shuffled back due to traffic near the end. Because of our heat race finish we had to start 11th in the feature. worked up to about 6th threw traffic, spun after getting chopped by the car in front of us on lap 15 or so, started in the back again, came back threw traffic all the way up to 3rd place. with about 5 laps to go the throttle started sticking, preventing us from an even better finish. ended up 3rd.
August 16 - Indianapolis Raceway Park - Qualified 2nd (26.84) missed fast time by 2 one hundreths(26.82). Jumped out to an early lead going into the first corner, continued on to lead all 35 laps and WON THE FEATURE EVENT! Held off challenges from Hobson, Sommer and Tolf, in fine fashion, all in front of nearly 15 - 20,000 fans! - www.irponline.com states "Another Commanding performance by the #77 of Brad Kossow" !
August 2 - Rockford Speedway - FAST TIME! (15.6) after a very exciting dash race we came back to WIN the heat race. started 5th in the feature event, came through traffic, finished the night in 2nd place AGAIN.
August 1 - Lake Geneva Raceway - qualified 3rd, WON the heat race, started 3 rows back in the feature, up to 3rd after a wreck on lap 1. a couple laps into green flag racing a shock heim broke coming down the backstretch. ended our nite.
July 12 - Indianapolis Raceway Park - Qualifed 2nd, just .04 seconds off of fast time. Started the 35 lap feature event on the outside pole, lead the first 15 laps, car started going away on longer runs, finished the feature in 2nd, again. half a lap ahead of third place, four car lengths behind leader.
June 21 - Rockford Speedway - Qualified 2nd again, (15.7) 3rd in the dash, WON the heat race, started 3rd in the feature, chased down keith tolf towards the end of the race, but didn't have enough time or car, finished in 2nd place.
June 20 - Lake Geneva Raceway- Qualified 2nd (19.2) WON the heat race, started 4th in the feature and quickly moved up to 2nd place, tried passing for the lead on the last lap in turn 2, got down low underneath him but couldn't hold it and lost the car. finished 9th.
June 7 - Indianapolis Raceway Park - Qualified 4th, 26.89, started 4th in feature event, 3rd by lap 1, continued on in a 3 way battle for the lead until lap 29 of 35. Car was REALLY hooked up. On late race restart car shutoff completly, DNF feature. Found the problem after the race was finished - coil wire came loose. 10th place points and money.
May 31 - Angola Indiana - (Great Lakes Allison Legacy Series Event) Qualified 4th with wrong gear, lap 4 of heat race had motor problems, DNS feature event.
